Changes in TV broadcasts of F1

Postby AndreasT » Thu Jul 29, 2010 10:32 pm

Does anyone know precisely since which year TV stations cannot choose anymore what to show during the race? And didn't some TV stations even have their own trackside cameras or am I mistaken here? Looks like my memory has let me down... :( Thanks in advance!

I could only tell post-1996. In 1997 digital broadcast was enabled, so there was the world-feed and the digital-feeds used by Premiere/Sky. These were separate till 2004 I think. Then it was reduced to digital broadcast only and however depending on the licensing you'd get only the world-feed or the extra channels.
Is that correct? I have no idea, good question.
